Installing the nRF Connect SDK¶
The recommended way to get started with the nRF Connect SDK is to run the Getting Started Assistant app in nRF Connect for Desktop. See the Getting Started information on the nRF9160 DK product page for information about how to install the Getting Started Assistant.
The Getting Started Assistant checks which of the required tools are already installed on your computer and guides you through installing the parts of the toolchain that you are missing. In addition, it will help you clone the nRF Connect SDK repositories and set up your first project in SEGGER Embedded Studio.
With the introduction of the West (Zephyr’s meta-tool) tool, the way to clone the repositories has changed considerably. Therefore, if you work with the latest version of the nRF Connect SDK repositories instead of the latest release, follow the steps outlined in this section for cloning the repositories.
- Supported operating systems
- Installing on Windows
- Installing on Linux
