Nordic nRF52 Bluetooth Development Studio plugin

You can use Bluetooth Development Studio to generate code for nRF52 Series devices. Here you can download the required plugin.

Our SDK contains a template to support the Bluetooth Developer Studio generated code.

For developing on nRF51 using SDK v10.0.0 or v11.0.0 see legacy BDS (link).

nRF52 Bluetooth Developer Studio plugin

The plugin folder contains the Nordic Semiconductor nRF5 plugin that can be used with Bluetooth Developer Studio.

Copy the "Nordic Semiconductor" folder within the plugin folder to "Plugins" folder within the Bluetooth Developer Studio installation folder, as described in the Bluetooth Developer Studio Help file (section "Code Plugins" > "Installing a plugin").

Integrating the Nordic plugin generated code with the bluetoothds_template project

  1. Generate the code from BDS.
  2. Read the generated "Readme.txt" file.
  3. Create a copy of the "examples/ble_peripheral/experimental/bluetoothds_template" folder within the "experimental" folder.
  4. Name the copied folder as "test1".
  5. Copy the generated files from BDS to the "test1" folder (yes, you need to overwrite the service_if.c file).
  6. Go to "test1" folder, open the folder matching your Development Kit board, open the folder matching your SoftDevice, open the folder matching your compiler or IDE, and finally, open you project file.
  7. Add the plugin generated .c files to the project
  8. Compile the application
  9. Flash the softdevice using the nRFgo Studio. The softdevice is located at "components\softdevice\"
  10. Flash the application.
  11. Reset the Development Kit board
  12. Use Master Control Panel or nRF Connect to test the application on a PC or Android to verify that your example project works.
